Top 5 Takeaways from “The social network”
## 5 Key Lessons from Mark Zuckerberg's Journey to Building Facebook
### Persistency: The Backbone of Success
When it comes to building a successful business, persistency is often the unsung hero. Mark Zuckerberg's journey to creating Facebook is a prime example of this. His first idea, Facemash, an online service that allowed users to compare the attractiveness of their classmates, was not only controversial but also led to his academic probation. However, this failure did not deter him. Instead, it paved the way for Facebook, a platform that would connect people worldwide.
Zuckerberg faced numerous challenges as Facebook grew, from spreading awareness and securing funding to managing the workload and perfecting the product. His persistence and passion were crucial in overcoming these obstacles. This lesson is universal: no matter what you're working on, you will face problems and obstacles. It is your persistence and hard work that will ultimately see you through.
### Execution Over Idea
Having a great idea is just the beginning; it's the execution that turns it into reality. The Winklevoss twins, who had a similar idea for a social platform called ConnectU, learned this the hard way. Despite their ambitions, they lacked the necessary skills to bring their idea to life and ended up trying to hire Mark Zuckerberg to execute it for them.
This story highlights that having a team with the right skills and the ability to execute is far more important than just having an idea. If you have a vision but lack the skills or team to implement it, your idea will remain just that—an idea.
### When One Door Closes, Another Opens
Failure and setbacks are inevitable parts of any journey. Mark Zuckerberg's experience with Facemash and his personal life, such as the breakup that supposedly led to its creation, illustrate this point. Often, when one door closes, it opens up new opportunities that might be even better than what you had initially envisioned.
This theme is consistent in many entrepreneurial journeys. Failures can lead to new opportunities and lessons that ultimately guide you to where you are meant to be. Embracing this mindset can help you navigate through difficult times and find the silver lining in every setback.
### Success and Enemies: An Inevitable Pair
Creating something on a massive scale, like Facebook, comes with its share of enemies and naysayers. Mark Zuckerberg's journey was no exception. Despite the success, he faced and continues to face criticism and opposition.
The key takeaway here is that you cannot please everyone. What matters most is your inner circle and your self-belief. Having a strong support system and believing in yourself will help you navigate through the criticism and stay focused on your goals.
### The Importance of Legal Protection
In the fast-paced world of business, it's easy to overlook the importance of legal protection. The story of Eduardo Saverin, who had his shares diluted due to negligence and lack of legal advice, serves as a cautionary tale. Even someone as brilliant and smart as Mark Zuckerberg can fall into traps if they don't take the necessary legal precautions.
When entering into business partnerships, signing off on assets, or dealing with ownership, it is crucial to get a lawyer involved. This ensures that you are protected and aware of the implications of any agreements you sign. In business, it's essential to separate friendships and personal relationships from professional dealings to avoid potential pitfalls.
## Conclusion
Mark Zuckerberg's journey to building Facebook is a rich tapestry of lessons that can be applied to any entrepreneurial venture. From the importance of persistency and execution to the inevitability of facing enemies and the necessity of legal protection, these takeaways offer valuable insights for anyone looking to make a significant impact.
Whether you're just starting out or navigating the challenges of an established business, remembering these key lessons can help you stay focused, overcome obstacles, and achieve your goals.

mark zuckerberg became a billionaire at, the age of 23 by creating one of the, biggest social media platforms in the, world facebook today we're gonna be, taking a look at our top five biggest, takeaways from the movie the social, network just one thing before we start, if you could please leave us a like and, subscribe would really appreciate it, let's go ahead hop right into it and, number one we have persistency plays a, huge part in your success, oftentimes your first idea in business, really never turns out to be your best, idea and that's it was exactly the case, with mark his first idea in college was, face mash an online service that pretty, much allowed you to judge and compare, the attractiveness of your fellow, classmates and that idea even though it, does sound like early tinder it got him, in a lot of trouble the site ended up, getting pulled down by harvard, themselves as well as it led him in, academic probation, but even though that idea was a failure, it led him ultimately to facebook which, allowed people to pretty much connect, with others network and potentially even, find a dating partner throughout the, creation of facebook mark has to deal, with a multitude of problems while, growing his business such as how to, spread awareness for the actual business, itself so that way he could increase his, user base, getting investors to actually fund the, amount of new users he was getting and, actually hire employees and then finally, dealing with the amount of long hours, and workload that he was having to put, on himself to actually improve and, perfect the product to become what it is, now today, and that just shows you that you have to, be really persistent and passionate, about what you're doing because it, doesn't matter what you're actually, working on or what you're trying to, achieve you're gonna have to deal with, problems and obstacles and ultimately, working hard and being persistent is, what's going to get you through them at, number two it's not about who has the, idea it's about who can execute on the, idea in the movie there's a set of twins, called the winklevoss twins who had, similar desires and ambitions as mark, zuckerberg to create a social platform, and they wanted to create something very, similar to facebook called connect you, but the problem was is even though they, had some similar ideas and a great idea, they didn't actually have the skills, necessary to actually make their dreams, a reality so what they ended up doing, was trying to hire mark on to actually, execute on the idea there was some angst, between the two the partnership never, ended up working out and so mark ended, up creating the facebook himself and, pretty much that just the more of the, story behind this is is that yes you can, have a great idea but if you don't have, the actual skills or the team behind you, to actually build it it'll just stay an, idea and it won't make it a reality, although the winklevoss twins did not, have the team to actually execute on the, idea in 2008 they did get a nice, settlement of 65 million dollars pretty, much saying that hey mark stole our idea, and we didn't get anything for it so, they did get a nice settlement out of it, at number three we have not getting what, you want can sometimes be a blessing and, in the beginning of the movie mark gets, broken up with by his girlfriend and, angrily goes home and creates face mash, and although this was actually proven, false because he didn't actually have a, girlfriend that led him to the creation, of that but there's a great theme to it, and it's a theme that i find very, consistent with in my life and that is, when one door closes another one opens, up often times when we have a journey, that ends or you feel like you've failed, or just concludes a lot of times you're, left kind of like remorseful and upset, that it didn't really go the way you, wanted to but oftentimes those times are, actually the things that lead you to, that bigger plan or that next best thing, that's actually just getting ready to, happen to you and i have found that very, often my life i've had business, businesses fail and that has led me to, this current opportunity that i'm, literally working on right now the, school of hard knocks and if it wasn't, for those failures i wouldn't be where i, am today working on something that i, truly love and that's something that is, very applicable in my life and it's, probably applicable in yours too at, number four we have you can't be ultra, successful without having a few enemies, and throughout the movie mark definitely, did create a few enemies and even to, this day he's actively creating enemies, for himself but that's just really what, comes with success in creating something, to massive scale and that is you can't, please everyone at the end of the day so, whatever journey you're going through or, whatever journey you're really even on, right now, you're gonna have those people that are, gonna be naysayers they don't believe in, you and quite frankly they just don't, even care about you, but it's really that inner circle and, that self belief in yourself that's, going to get you to where you want to go, and then it's really just a realization, that hey, if people are hating on me i'm probably, doing something right at number five and, this is a big one and honestly one that, really surprised me that this even, really needs to be talked about and that, is to lawyer up, in the movie eduardo sovereign gets his, shares deluded by pretty much honestly, negligence on his part of not really, realizing what was going on he kind of, blindly signs papers end up leading to, the dilution of his shares and, ultimately ownership within facebook and, although of course later on he did get, his own settlement of an undisclosed, amount if i had to guess probably, somewhere in the billions but really if, you're in something that has the amount, of scale as facebook or you're going, into a business partnership or you're, signing off on an asset or really you're, just doing anything that has anything to, do with you know your shares ownership, you should get a lawyer like for someone, to be so brilliant and someone to be so, smart he's literally going to harvard, you should really be, careful you just have to be careful even, if someone says they're your friend or, you've known them for a long time when, it comes to something such as business, you really have to put friends and, business aside and ultimately just look, out for yourself and do the due, diligence of getting a lawyer and making, sure that you're not signing off on, something that could ultimately lead to, your demise so those are my five, takeaways that i got from the social, network if you haven't seen that movie i, highly recommend you do there's some, awesome acting and honestly just a, really cool story line to see how, facebook really came into fruition, but yeah that's gonna be it for me today, guys hope hopefully you guys enjoyed if, you guys did please give us a like and, subscribe we'd really appreciate that, i'll catch you guys in the next one
